Lisa Cradduck was born in Wembley, London in 1980. A Fine Art graduate from Sheffield Hallam University and Chelsea School of Art, Cradduck is a founder member and director of 'Mutton Fist Press', an autonomous, co-operative printmaking studio and exhibition space in Archway, London. Mutton Fist hosts art, music and literary events, supports collaborative practice, has a residency programme and as a manifesto promotes no fixed agenda beyond strong print and free will. The Press recently launched a publishing department, ‘Mucky Dabs’. Cradduck is currently studying experimental binding techniques for use in the production of limited edition, hand printed and bound artist books under this imprint. Cradduck runs a popular, specialist linocut course and is a tutor on the advance printmaking programme at City Literary Institute, London.
In 2010 Cradduck undertook a residency at The Venice Printmaking Studio in Murano, Italy. The work she produced, a large-scale etching of the moon, was selected for inclusion in The Venice Biennale of Large Format Printmaking 2013. She has previously exhibited work at The Horse Hospital, The Communist Gallery and Five Years in London, and at the Ghetto Biennale, Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.
Cradduck’s work is characterised by traditional and innovative printmaking techniques, laborious mark-making and scholarly research. Her prints are typically monochromatic. Current research interests include print culture, 15th century block-books, moral panics and witch pamphlets. She lives and works in North London.
